I think Austrian is a man as at nearly 6' 2" he would be a very tall woman (I speak as father-in-law to a 6'1" DIL).  I really like the idea of someone from continental Europe joining us, perhaps if we had a few more we Brits might begin to understand the EU mind-set [and they us].  Being cut off from Europe since the last ice age has led to a certain degree of isolationism.

I can asure you I have a sense of humour :) , dont worry ! , I was used to watch BBC World (hard talk) years ago but as I lived in South-America for some time I lost my English and forgetfulness is already an issue at that age :)
I hope I can upload some fotos in future to give you an impression of my home country, ...and I hope you will be understanding with me if I write nonsense that a native speaker would never write :)
Now I have to go and buy a rubber plant for my little flat.
Thanks to each one of you who replied , Ill be back :)

Max...''chap'' is a slang term for ''man''

The next thing for Sparky and myself ( and maybe some others ? ) is to teach you some rhyming slang  :o
That will  really get you confused   ;D ;D

Austrian - "plonker " does not mean what it translates into German !   ;D ;D ;D ;D   it's actually 'a bit of an idiot'   You'll learn lots of funny phrases here !

Austrian.  Every now and then we get some weird old post on her from people who want to sell us things that are not quite above board ..

Because your name is Austrian our dear Beannie (Dickie) Immediately thought you were offering something not above board.. She has phoned me and asked me to explain her soppy mistake . This has upset her very much because she is a gentle soul and wouldn't want to hurt anyone . She is very popular on this site and is loved by many.. She wants to say a BIG BIG  'SORRY'..   I hope you understand and join in with us on putting up and answering threads .
