Remembering...
« on: Feb 03, 2017, 08:37:27 AM »
When I finished at college of design, I took a job in a London fashion house. One day, I had some time left, so I took  some fabric  remnants. The fabrics were lovely and I designed and put together a lovely evening gown. It was featured in Vogue that month. Then, one day, when in Harrods with Micky, I spotted it in the store in the huge glass doors "wardrobe.."  I stopped and looked again? and the price !!!Hundreds of pounds... ::) A sales lady approached me and asked if I needed assistance...I politely declined. I, made that gown ...I could never have been able to buy it !  Not on the wage they were paying me!!!! ::) ??? That's life ! gmx

I started nursing years ago and earned 」2.50 per week I remember spending my first pay on some soup bowls for my Mum, she still had them when I had children myself. The nursing didn't last though sadly

I hope you told the sales lady you had made it.
Something to be proud of and being in Vogue too.

Couldn't agree more FB..PF is a cornucopia filled with over a thousand years of different experiences and recollections of when we were we, rather than the we we are today.

(That is so convoluted that when I checked it the word 'we' began to mean nothing...and I never thought I'd write something that had 'we we' in it!..)

Yes Bea. I doubt that many people on here have climbed behind the wheel and raced a banger car. Certainly not me..

My wife has two things over me.  She has ridden pillion behind a Wall of Death rider on the fair and also supposedly did the "ton" on the pillion of our brother in law's Norton Dominator.  The latter used to restore bikes to new condition.  He acquired a 1946 Vincent HRD "Rapide" which he kept for very many years in mint condition but eventually sold it and now I believe it resides in Australia.
