Is this an Azalea please?
« on: Feb 20, 2017, 02:29:37 PM »
My wife was given this plant by a friend but it has no label on it so we don't know how to care for it. They said it could be planted outside so is it an Azalea please?

Yes we've got a couple of big Camellias in the garden and I don't think this is one, the leaves are very different. But thanks.

I suppose there isn't a little stick in the pot with the name on?

sorry about that, from the leaves it looks like a Japonica possibly. That is speaking as a non gardener. Very dark green, plain slightly pointed.

CC...yes that's what it looks like and yes mine eventually went into the garden but I hardened it off first putting it to bed if cold.  It grew into a fine plant.  Hope you succeed.

Most definitely an Azalea - Belgian bred and forced development hence larger than normal leaves with age the leaves will get smaller
