For the staunch gardeners among us.
« on: Apr 22, 2017, 07:48:26 PM »
I came across a short quote and finding it's source led me to this Kipling poem. It doesn't apply to me at all except for a couple of lines and I'll keep those to myself if I may. ;)
I should add that I only read the first two verses before copying...Didn't read the last chapter...which is much more Kiplin-esque..if you get my meaning.

I doubt it C-C. Not with the redoubtable Mrs C-C's overseeing proclivities. Face it, you've built your own labour camp.. :-\

I'm a reluctant gardener - Mrs. T is the staunch one.  I try to do my bit, but that generally comes down to digging and maintaining. Yesterday we got the mowers and strimmer out of hibernation.  They all started very easily, but of course, Mrs.T took the larger self-propelled mower while I had the smaller push-along one and the strimmer to do the  awkward bits.  (Must get a new strimmer - current one is about 12 years old and falling apart.  Still starts  first pull. )

We help our friends in the village who own a market garden.  That's 11 acres to look after.  Again Mrs. T helps with the real gardening while I mend fences, sheds etc..   I simply don't have 'green fingers',  but I wouldn't be without a garden.

I mow the lawns & that's about it, I can't be bothered keeping the edges straight.

Both lawns have plenty of dandelions which I leave as they bring a bit of colour to the gardens for no effort whatsoever.

I assumed what I did because nobody mentioned it. No big deal.

Thank you em.

I do have a feeling that many members will suggest that it remains hidden.
