Just an update - two weeks down the line and the bandages are gone and stitches removed. You'd never know shed had an op, very clean heal!
Just another four weeks of comparative rest with only very short walks four times a day. She's doing just fine ;D

So today Mella's back to the specialist for x-rays, check-up and physio to see how the leg has healed. Sure hope it's good news as she still limps occasionally, especially when she's been lying down for a while!

Good news, you must be so relieved.

I'm sure she will be ok, it's still early days but even if she does continue to have the occasional limp she's still with you so be thankful for that.

Our cat who adopted us 5 years ago died last Friday & we'd settle for her having a limp & still being with us.

Our fingers are crossed for you & Mella.

Back from the consultants and the report is good. Her x-ray shows she's where they would expect her to be at this stage after the operation. We now have another six weeks of short walks only, on the lead, increasing their length gradually over the period.

Thanks Scrumpy.

It was an horrendous day.

We took her to the vet on Thursday because she seemed a bit under the weather & he found her to be fully fit apart from a high temperature so she was given a 48 hr antibiotic jab & an anti-inflammatory jab & said there was nothing to worry about.

She was lethargic all day so we asked if we could take her back for an overnight observation but the vet said it was just due to the jabs which needed more time to work & to take her back if she was no better on Friday.

We checked her regularly through the night but when I went to see her at 5:30 ish it wasn't until I picked her up I realised she was dead. Thank god it wasn't my wife who found her!

I'm so glad Mella is doing well   :)
That must have been an awful shock for you Phil.
My elderly cat died two months ago.   I have her ashes here in a box under the coffee table where she used to sit, I'm just trying to bring myself to scatter them in the garden.

Thanks to you both.

The shock was dreadful, I've never felt anything like it.

What made it worse was being lulled into a false sense of her being ok so we were totally unprepared as she was still a young cat at 7 yrs old.

If the vet had said "ummm, this could go either way", we'd have been half expecting it.

Anyway, like you, we've got her ashes in a casket which we've put were she liked to be but she'll be scattered with us eventually.
