looking good getting lost??
« on: Aug 17, 2017, 08:01:34 AM »

Our local asda supermarket has had millions spent on it and i must admit its looking good inside new taller upright freezer cabinets are replacing old squat ones , and of course more choices to see , wider range of food better aisles for disabled people in electric buggies,

even the car park has had a major face lift with more parking spaces out side the store for disabled drivers,  it seems everything  has been worked out , how ever the cost of all this is i was told was just over £5.000.000 pounds well my wife remarked to a staff member, that with all this re-arranging of the stores she suggested a map of the stores lay out to help and assist customers find what they are looking for,.so although the store is looking good getting lost for a while seems a hard way of learning your way around until you get the hang of it,

as it is at the moment people are wandering about either lost or confused looking for the items that have used to be in one place for a number of years, and now they completely been re arranged and put  else where , im sure over time when customers finally get the hang of the new store image  and  hopefully when things have settled down  finding what your looking for will be easier than it is, at this moment in time,

after that i wonder with all the expense that i assume Walmart has gone to how much will food prices rise  as with all this expense the money has to be paid back some how, and as usual its the customer who pays,
eventually  so then imagine if all the super and hyper markets have a refit how much will food prices increase by in general ..................any one fancy a guess .

Q; what is your opinion of supermarkets and food prices in general,

These big stores aren't daft..
You spend a while walking around looking for something that used to be 'here' but has been moved to 'there'.
All the while you are finding other things that you didn't realise that you needed.
I think food prices will go up regardless of work carried out at a store.. That is how it works..
Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

I have been shopping on line for years, now. The shopping is so easy to do and as I add items, the list on the right shows me the total as I shop. I choose the £2 slot delivery, and I am so glad I can do all by just sitting at my desk. I do not criticise, I just express my gladness at not having to walk around busy supermarkets, and finding a space to park. As I say, is a matter of personal choice. gmx

When the Morrisons here did the big re-org they handed out flyers at the door with a map of the new layout on it. And the cheese is still miles from the crackers...

When Morrisons revamped our store they didnt hand out any maps!
It took 2 or 3 shops to reorientate.
My wife is quite strict with the shopping so when I "found" some biscuits in a little travelled isle, I was told in no uncertain terms that "we" didnt need them so Morrisons strategy of distraction shopping failed miserably in "her" case.

I had thought our Morrisons face lift was an isolated event but it seems not.

My lovely Micky was Coeliac. He had to have Gluten free food. He was so pleased when the first gluten free foods arrived on the
Supermarket selves. Quite expensive, but I let him choose anything that he wanted to eat. I miss him dreadfully. We are two, and then there is one. We shared everything. And why should a wife stop her husband from having some biscuits? I'll buy the whole lot for him, just to have Micky back. :'( gmx

Medical advice? We no longer eat grapefruit because we're on statins, he doesn't miss it. I do 99% of our shopping, but buy things I know my OH will enjoy.  He loves cheese, and trying different types of fish, neither are my favourites, but I wouldn't not buy them. Same with red wine!  Now icecream I find hard to resist, and he rarely eats it. We have quite different favourites.

Our local Tesco changes the layout too often for me. I like to be able to whizz round knowing where I need to go.
Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.
