A House in Bayswater
« on: Sep 15, 2017, 07:02:00 PM »
This is a quite short 'documentary' shown in 1960. Part of it's curiosity value is that it's one of Ken Russell's very early works. It's a peculiar one but entertaining enough for all that.

I was going to watch this but I was asked to sign in/register with the BBC ..
They asked for unnecessary information in my opinion.

Sorry 'bout that. I had no idea they would. I watched it on iPlayer which might be the reason. Shame, I think you'd've liked it.
'Ere ya go gel..Found it on Youtube.

Watched most of this but it didn't hold my interest but then I'm no fan of Ken Russell.  I went with a boyfriend to see one of his films in the 60's and we walked out less than half way through. Can't remember the title but there was a burning pier at the beginning of the film.

Oh you should have stayed and just held hands, had a bit of  smooch in the back rows! Always a good way to pass a bad movie ;D ;D
This post is my opinion, which you may not like, but I'm entitled to it.

The pier accidently caught fire during the filming of Tommy - A Rock Opera - with the Who! Great film!

Thinking about it, in the film I was talking about I remember it was more of a jetty than an actual pier, but then it was so long ago the memory plays tricks.

My opinion of Ken Russell has been jaundiced ever since I watched The Devils - an extreme example of cinematic porn that cultured people regarded as art.

I saw it. Pretentious? yes, Art? definitely not. More like self-indulgence from a self-proclaimed enfant terrible.

self-indulgent is a great description of his work, i have never knowingly sat thru any of his stuff... i think Minnie possibly had a better night elsewhere... ;D ;D ;D
