I may well have said this before Scrumpy - because it seems so true - but some days I feel that he or she or whatever is 'up there' scripts us into a sitcom.  I think you have had one of those days  .

Usually it is the ability to observe people and see the funny side that makes a good script writer. We usually remember the performers but have never heard of the writers and don't know what they look like.

Talking about pointless tasks just before the Red Sun, that was accompanied by a strong wind, a council contractor came slalom the road with a leaf blower. Totally pointless if you are not going to blow them into a pile and pick them up!  or
