Somebody said Brasso earlier but both that and Silvo are still around although they aren't cans of liquid now they are both a wadding impregnated with the stuff.

If lino is still around how about the word oilcloth (same stuff as lino I think)

I have lino on the kitchen floor, bathroom floor as well as in the downstairs loo. Easy clean and hardwearing. Augmented with the odd rug, poifect.

Real linoleum, or vinyl flooring?  I seem to remember Lino had to be polished or it cracked, whilst modern flooring only needs a wash now and then.

As I remember lino did crack. It was a top decorative layer over some quite brittle black stuff. I don't think polishing it would make any difference to it cracking or not though.

They're not the same, Linoleum is a natural product, Vinyl is synthetic.  (Just googled it!)
