I find it an abomination that a reject Liverpudlian is allowed to take a safe seat in gods county of leafy Cheshire. :)

Allowed? I think Osborne hand-picked her as a reward for her 'good work' in brutalizing the already unfortunate and helping his austerity regime. Though I recognize that not everybody on here would see it that way.

I frequently travel to the Wirral and it seems to me prestbury that a Liverpudlian deems he/she is bettering him/herself if they can move out to the Wirral!

Quite a few in rural Cheshire too Alex, especially around the 'footballer' belt. 🙄

I visited a lovely house there on business many years ago.  It was of split level design and was fantastic with stunning panoramic views over the Dee estuary.  What it would be worth today I know not!

It does not impress us Cheshire folk when they get a shoe in to a safe seat.We have enough issues with our home grown MP's who think they are above conversing with the voters.

In that case, vote for the one that does...and talk about it. I'm sure that many constituents feel as you do about shoe-ins that arrive by parachute. It's not a crime to consider an alternative. If you don't try, you'll never know where trying may have taken you. ;)

The problem is that with most of Cheshire you can put a blue rosette on a donkey and you still only have to weigh the votes.

Our current MP at the last election gained 57% of the vote, with labour on 34% and the rest losing their deposits and she is not one of the best candidates so it shows how bad the other offerings were.

I note that in Esther Mcvey's constituency the percentages were similar to above and very little change from previous elections with George Osborne as incumbent, since the routing given to the conservatives By Martin Bell in 1997

That balances out South Yorkshire then Prestbury. Just change the colour of the rosette!

I suspect that a lot of it is down to the 'poor' british farmers in Cheshire who also appear to be in favour of leaving the EU.

Perhaps.  You do, however, have much better refuse services than us, and slightly lower council taxes. 😉

I certainly have no complaints about our County Council Mac. The streets are kept clean and in good repair, as you say our refuse services are very good, potholes get repaired reasonably quickly, we still have a traditional nativity at the war memorial, the library service is good. They spend the money they have as effectively as they can imo..

Half of our libraries have closed, with a couple now being run by volunteers. We are almost at the end of a citywide PFI programme of new road and pavement surfaces, they were seriously bad.  If we want a garden waste service, it's an extra cost, £20 for the bin, and £50 a year.  We can't recycle all our plastics through the collection service either.
