Yes, thank heavens for things like pick of the pops. We could "tape" the modern "hits" of the day for next to nothing, as opposed to having to buy a "single" vinyl record. In 1963 my parents bought my sister a "dansette" record player and the "with the beatles" LP. My other sisters bought her 'come on' by the rolling stones, and 'secret love' by Kathy Kirby. I think a single was either 6/4d or 6/8d. Quite a sum back then! Something else i've often found when discussing music over the years is how most people can often remember the first records they ever bought with their own money. (Opens floodgate!)....  :)

P.s, Apologies to Alfred, we seem to have hijacked his thread...

Confession time: To the best of my recollection, I've never bought a record for myself.

Okay then.....
I remember my mum taking me to the cinema to see  Gone With The Wind.. She loved it and Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) was her hero..

I saw Bill Haley  'Rock Around The Clock '.. It was on at the Odeon. People started jiving in the aisles. The police were called and the cinema was emptied.  It was great.

I like foreign language series, at least I can read the subtitles, although my wife laughs when I turn up the sound so that I can hear the words.

So come on, what was it? I don't remember one - or will I kick myself when you spill the beans?

I hate films on television that have the person signing for the hard of hearing, I not moaning about deaf people, just saying I wish I knew how to turn it off, because I cant see anything of the film I'm so busy watching the signer.
