What does it tell us that we have made 3779 replies to the three word thread over 37 pages but when we have a protest there were two replies and when we had a pole there were three replies.

Are we running 'I'm alright Jack' forum or should we really be looking to address some of the issues about pensions and pensioners rights (or lack of them) which this forum gives us a platform to do.

If we cannot be bothered to individually contribute to issues via protest, letter, email, poles etc is it time we elected from the forum someone (or a group) to represent the members and lobby on behalf of all the forum members?

If we continue with the verbal acknowledgement that there are problems (and we are not happy about how pensioners are both treated and recognised for the contribution they made to this once great country) but we remain apathetic in trying to resolve them or at least making a united voice heard then we deserve what we are getting :-\

What does everyone else think?

Protest all you like but just where will it get you. Students with all their power got no where. March to London they will tell you there is no money left in the pot. Its mainly pensioners who keep voting labour in so we get just what we deserve. Sorry but thats the way it is.

Iguess we are both right but one hell of a lot of pensioners still vote labour because there mums and dads did. Of course we still have the Ivanhoes a round, who cannot see any good in conservative.

George Osborne today won crucial backing from an influential think tank for his tough plans to tackle Britain's growing debt mountain.

With the Chancellor due to deliver his Budget next week, the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development said he had struck the "right balance" between cutting the deficit and encouraging growth.

However, it warned Bank of England governor Mervyn King that any sharp rise in interest rates risks killing off the economic recovery.

Labour has accused the Government of cutting "too fast and too deep" as it seeks to restore the public finances, and the OECD concluded the Coalition's plan to eliminate the structural deficit this Parliament "adds to the headwinds" from weak real income growth and a fading rebound in global trade. But in support of Mr Osborne, it added: "While fiscal risks remain, the announcement and initial implementation of the consolidation programme strikes the right balance between addressing fiscal sustainability... and preserving short-term growth."

My interpretation of 'restoring public finances' means giving more jobs to jobs Worth's who actually produce nothing and add nothing to the economy like politicians

Lets all contribute and get the debt paid off ASAP interest is almost as big a drain on the public purse as the spongers, those who genuinely cannot afford to contribute any more money should contribute their time - e.g. drive an elderly person to a hospital appointment or to a country pub, dig the garden service the central heating system etc etc. Long live the REPUBLIC.
