So who is stockpiling...
« on: Apr 18, 2018, 04:15:12 PM »
plastic bottles and tin drinks cans etc. ready to collect cash on them when the deposit scheme kicks in?

I'm not but I must admit I've thought about it (obviously or I wouldn't be asking).

Now there's a thought. My council was in the news recently as being almost bust. There is a section of verge behind crash barriers at least a coupe of hundred yards long all looking like this. The scrap value alone would help but at 20p a can we should get free rates for years if they cleared this up...

Nor me. We returned this morning from our weekly shopping trip to Morrisons and filled recycle bin with a pile of wrappings.

It seems it does not matter how many times you complain about apples in containers and wrapped in plastic, cereal boxes only 2/3 full or microwave meals enclosed in cardboard sleeves  the "customer" view is disregarded for supermarket convinence !

The good news is that the government is proposing to consider banning plastic straws, stirrers and cotton buds. Almost 0.0001% of our total plastic usage. I wonder if this nonsense will dry up when we leave the eu.

I don't think this is down to the EU. Blue Planet pricked people's consciences and the government are pretending to care too.

i think we are all gradually leaning in the right direction, but i do wish the supermarket butchers would consider wrapping my chicken thighs i paper instead, on request at least

Hey guys one way to help reduce plastic waste go to the greengrocers, their stuff is unwrapped and put items straight into your basket.

When we go to the butchers we always take our own containers.

You've prob guessed I'm a bit of a recycling nut ;D

I always take my own bag ...It is very difficult but I do try to avoid anything that I can’t recycle ..
