If you have been drinking don't drive.
I think I have probably seen the consequences of drink driving more than Mr / Mrs Average excluding police officers and NHS staff. I mainly go out for a coffee and have some wine when I get back home.

We like a drink but would never ever drink and drive.  In my opinion if you can afford a drink you can afford a taxi.

You don't have to have a taxi both ways. I have gone to a pub in the centre of Birmingham by bus and got a taxi back

I once drove to the pub and had quite a few! But then I got a taxi home and next day walked to the bus stop to catch a bus to collect my car. So that's car, taxi, walk and bus as modes of transport for one visit to the pub! That's four in total. Has anybody used five or more?

I don't "drink drive", I do however have a drink and then drive home, never more than two pints and always the lowest %ABV and that's usually 3.6%
On a recent visit the barman pulled the wrong pint, a 4.5% which he offered to change, but I just had 1½ pints instead.

Getting too smashed to manage the bus home has health implications.

When your mates asked if you were going to get trollied I don't think that was they had in mind.
