an ingin bridie...lol... is that a forfar bridie?
a bridie is similar to a pasty, and you know just how much difference from one shop to the next can be... i went up the other week, just a day out from Blyth and called in at the butchers £65 my god and that was just sausages and spiced ham...lol.... i never got any plain bread nor mutton pies, tho we got some pies in Kelso he bought four warm pies, the fool... we ate them there and then...
i was in Dundee quite often in the army, but i can only remember thing thru an alcoholic daze...lol... as you do... i remember the Empress Ball room that seemed to float on the water [i think it really did] boy was that rough, they checked you at the door for weapons and if you didnt have any they supplied knuckledusters, gum sheilds, cricket box...lol... we had a few good nights in there... and at a dance just outside Dundee at Carnoustie i met my hero, that was the only time in my life i have asked for an Autograph, and he gave it and shook my hand... Dick McTaggart the finest boxer the UK has ever produced.[/i]

It's just an onion bridie Crabby. The other thing I used to like was a white pudding!

I knew about the Empress, but I wasn't allowed to go there. 😕  Dick McTaggart was loved by all in Dundee. A real case of ordinary boy doing well.  I didn't appreciate the place when I was young, and I can't regret moving away, but I believe it has one of the best settings of any city in the UK. I still get a rush going over the bridge towards the Law.

it was the first city in the world to be lit by electric street lights...
McTaggart was/is a gentleman, the only blot in his record was...
he boxed for England while in the RAF...lol

Not saying you're wrong Crabby but there are many places that claim that. What year are you talking about?

I’m not very good at understanding different accents.
I find Scottish to be the hardest to understand ..
I have been away for a few days and this morning I spent talking to a man from Birmingham... I think that’s what he said .!

What irritates me is that no what accent, no matter how broad, are the folk with whom I come into contact - they can ALWAYS understand me - so why can't I understand them (and sometimes two parties can't understand each other, but can understand me!)
