I think the answer is in the question. I mean the bit that says "at our expense"! For that matter they could no doubt have gone by car. Their limousine was probably driven from one end of the route to the other to pick them up when they landed.

£250!!  Rail travel is disgustingly expensive - when it's not delayed or cancelled.

The same would apply to any of them.

The top Royals could have a complete train carriage if they didn't fancy mingling with their serfs.

Ron, where does the £37,000 figure come from? I'm in no way supporting the act but as far as I can make out it was more like £6,000.

Maybe Ronyork is right but thinking about all the money that is spent I can't help but wonder how much us Oldies take out of the pot :-*

Yes Zoony, Sort of right, I always worked so paid full stamp, didn't have kids, never ever claimed a penny, had own business but never earned meger bucks but understand that so many folks paid so much more in taxes than me so in my book I admire the ones that worked harder than me :D   And although I did work long hours sometimes from 6am until 10pm  I still look back and think yes I did that but if I had the chance of a swap with the Royal Family who I admire No not for one moment I couldn't work like they do ;D

£ 37,000 the cost of the flight quoted in the Telegraph, Express. and the Mail and no doubt other papers .of course they might have it wrong, Some while ago I remember a helicopter flight to I think a polo match cost in the region £4000 an hour, of course you must then add up the cost of security.

The plane costs £3,000 an hour. Two-hour trip = £6,000. I have no idea what the security and hangers-on cost.

Suebo ...good for you!  Me too I plotted the role of self employed twice - different business, there is no way I would swap with the Royal role and no way I would exchange this figure head form of power for a power hungry one that may wreak havoc with our way of life.  Experiencing South Africa and its fighting powers and Ireland with its cross to be held high...had enough!
