;D ;D  In ENT surgery I could never scrub for polyps cos as soon as he started plucking them out with big tweezers my eyes would stream due to a sensitivity reflex. The sound they made was 'orrible!.. I was the same with eye surgery yet I was fine with an amputation or major abdominal stuff...

Very kind Ol' Crab but wine is not my cup of tea, as it were..I'm happy with a chilled Oranjeboom.

Does anybody have experience of post-stent recovery?
Sorry. Worded that badly...I meant post-stent life..

Yes indeed I do have experience of 'post - stent' life, and I'm pleased to say that six + years later it's positive.

Initial recovery after stent procedure consisted of about four hours sleep then a number of medical checks followed by the best ever tasting toasted cheese sandwich and tea, more medical checks and then discharge from hospital the same day with appointments with the specialists made for the following week, month three months six months and annually.

Do listen and act on what the Medical profession advise and importantly stick to the medicine regime prescribed for you, in other words don't forget to take your drugs tablets or whatever and if in doubt ask!

As for life afterward, much the same as before as I had no real bad habits in pre stent life. I'm stricter with myself about exercise and swim properly daily in the summer and have taken up hard hill walking in the winter, importantly I drink far more water than before and try to consume at least three to four litres a day which I don't find easy in the winter. On the advice of my son, a Doctor I check my blood sugar level regularly and maintain it at a lower level than the average for my age group simply by cutting out some foods. If I find myself in a stressful situation I take myself out of it as soon as is possible and have learnt to say NO to anything and anybody that I don't wish to be bothered with, nasty perhaps but this is about my survival not the feelings of others.

Good Luck and Enjoy the Stent(s)

I do have a friend who had a stent fitted last year. He spends most of his life on and off planes traveling the word to see various operas. It does seem to have given  him a wonderful new lease of life, he was doing all his travels within a month of having it fitted, seems to have given him a good life.

So does he sing the praises of stents?

Oddly enough being on and off aircraft for most of my working life may have contributed to the reasons I required the stent procedure and others I've known and worked with have had much the same experience. I still fly but much less so nowadays and then only out of necessity to get from A to B., what appeared glamorous forty + odd years ago now seems far less so.

If you're a frequent flyer, especially long haul over many different time zones go for an upgrade not only of you're cabin seating but also of your health checks and do wear leg support hose regardless of if you only fly once in a blue moon or if its a short or long haul flight.

Stent's are great, they make you're hydraulics work better💗

;D ;D  My hydraulics could certainly use an overhaul...I know what you mean about flying though. It used to be more of a pleasure than a pain and now it's just a pain. No interest in it nowadays but I have good memories about what it was once upon a lifetime. Glad you're feeling so well.

Hi zoony.
I presume that you have been diagnosed with Angina, a blockage in one of the arteries supplying blood to your heart muscles causing pain (basically cramps in those muscles) when exerted.
Angioplasty is a surgical procedure where a  balloon “stent” is inserted into that artery, usually up from your femoral artery in your right thigh, and inflated, thereby unblocking that artery.
The effect is instant and permanent. Good bye to the GTN spray.
The only thing I found a bit difficult was trusting the result, going out without the GTN spray. Took me about six months to leave the thing at home and live my life to the full again.
My double stent was done in 2005 and gave me back my life in full.
Get on with it, enjoy the freedom you’ll have once more!
This post is my opinion, which you may not like, but I'm entitled to it.

Thanks CC, I was hoping you'd pop in to let zoony know how you'd found them.
