Caithness n Sutherland.
« on: Aug 12, 2018, 02:09:02 PM »
I see a lot of wonderful sights up in the very north of Scotland, a lot of them are along the "A836/8". that runs across the top from John o Groats in the east, to Durness in the west. I never get tired of this road and I'm on it a lot, I never fail to find something new to explore. This is one of my favourites, Loch Eriboll and the tiny island Ard Neackie.

This link tells you about it.

Someone nicked four of our garden ornaments yesterday. Is nothing bloody sacred?

There's an interesting tale regarding the distillery's motif as it is taken from the work of Konrad Gesner, a 16th century linguist and zoologist who produced a tome entitled. The History of Four Footed Beasts and Serpents. Back in those days it was quite common to sight wolves in northern Scotland and the coastal area were purported to be the roaming grounds of a supernatural relative "The Sea-Wolf". According to legend, "The Sea-Wolf" did live on both land and sea and Genser's woodcut depicts the creature walking on water. It was widely believed at the time that those who saw the wolf would be granted good luck.

Interesting...I've known about Silkies since learning the Great Silkie of Sule Skerry (Sorry, English title) as a callow youth but the only Sea Wolf I knew about was Jack London's. Thanks chuck.
If anyone's interested...

It takes a while to get going...sorry.
