Apparently they are going to sack the chairman. Better surely to cancel the project.

(Again apparently) the government want to sack him because the other project he was in charge of was not well controlled, and that is almost entirely within the M25, Cross Rail. Although parts of cross rail are badly needed, mainly due to over population, much of it falls into the category of vanity projects and contracts being milked to extreme.
