cold meats on boxing day,
« on: Dec 06, 2018, 08:33:47 AM »

I dont know if that many people like cold meats on boxing day but my family and i do and we love the cold slices of turkey. beef, or any other cold meats together with mash potatoes  cold stuffing warmed up left over vegetables and plenty of pickles, chutney, piccalilli, brown sauce , or what ever and thougherly enjoy finishing off the left overs which last a few days after boxing day, nothing really wasted.  in the past if there was quite a lot of say turkey over my wife would make a nice pie, and im sure many of you have other culinary delights of what to do with food left over after the Christmas holidays,

Q; so what do you do with your  left overs, and will you let us in on your ideas,

We enjoy a Boxing Day buffet of bits from the day before.  My OH cooks a ham, we have turkey, pork pie etc, and its nice and informal after the previous day's traditional dinner.
Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.

When we were children mum scraped together as much as she could to buy a turkey (dad died young) as big as she could manage which lasted Christmas day, Boxing Day (cold but with vegs and gravy) sarnies for a day or two after and finally boiled down for soup with vegetables added. When my brother (4 years my junior) started work a Christmas bonus was a turkey which he brought home on the train having assured mum she had no longer need to buy one. One problem - it too big for our oven! Fortunately she was able to swap it with a neighbour for one which our oven could cope with. I was in the RAF at the time so missed the fun.

Cold meats and bubble and squeak with pickles..

Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

Bubble and Squeak! Now you're talking. I keep the recipe in my head, and really there's nothing in it.

I prefer Boxing day food too.  A plate of left-overs and a bottle of white wine.
You'll have had your tea.

There may be a bit of Turkey left over for Boxing Day as well as Pork --all that's needed is fresh bread ::)

I have a frozen three bird roast that is for 8 people allegedly (probably 8 people with very poor appetites)
Not to mention the small frozen whole turkey I have as a back up, so I may be eating cold meats for some time.

Today I've been told, we're having steak n chips on Christmas day, with Christmas lunch, on boxing day.
Due to No.1 son's work rota.
