Chester Zoo
« on: Dec 15, 2018, 07:41:43 PM »
There was a huge fire today at Chester Zoo, the endangered Sumatran orangutans were led to safety in blankets, bless them ! The zoo staff are still trying to account for other animals and fire brigade and vets will be on site through the night.   It's been absolutely hissing down today but strong winds too which can't have helped.

Perhaps they'll be exhibiting a Phoenix when they re-open.

I'm glad they saved so many animals. The big problem is probably birds because they fly away but in this awful weather and with predatory birds about they may not survive for long.

That's true Ashy some of these exotic birds just wouldn't survive.  Latest photos on here show the damage.

Beagles smoking again I suppose. It's very sad and looks like the roof caught fire so it spread all over and probably showered everything below with burning material. Such a shame. If the wind wind was blowing like it is here in Norfolk it would have fanned the flames like anything.
