The Jeremy Kyle show
« on: Jan 21, 2019, 10:22:08 AM »
Having a problem with my DVD recorder I was fiddling around and, by chance, this show came up. Hit the mute button very quickly - what an unpleasant group of people! Even with no sound the antagonism between them all - including Kyle - was very clear.
I now understand a throw-away comment on another thread about would one want a politician who watched such a show!

Oh - and even worse, it clearly had a studio audience who were lapping it all up. If this is supposed to be entertainment, I despair

The only difference between the Jeremy Kyle Show & Parliament is that the aggression shown on the Jeremy Kyle Show tends to be lower working-class physical aggression while the aggression shown in Parliament is middle / upper-class academic intellectual aggression.

But the intent of both is just the same.

These type of shows are staged anyway and the audience hyped up beforehand no doubt.  Rubbish.

I wouldn't rate it that highly! Admittedly, I had it on with sound for perhaps 2 minutes if that whilst I scuttled to the other side of the room to hit 'mute', and it was on for perhaps 5 minutes without sound whilst I was trying to sort the DVD out, but I thought it was totally, utterly appalling.

I would guess that the mentality of the people that watch it, relates well to the prat that presents it.

The prat no doubt earns a decent bob or two from ITV 🤑.

I'm sure that you are right, Granny, although from watching his body language - waving his arms about and (even though the sound was off) clearly shouting the odds about something - a case of verbal abuse seems more appropriate. Well, at least if somone mentions the show in future, I will know what they are talking about.

I feel much the same about big brother. What a crowd of exhibitionists.

I blame th'internet and the dominance of reality tv..(Which is a peculiar name for something that so patently isn't.) Low-brow pandering? I couldn't possibly comment but if it isn't why does it occupy so much space in the newspapers I read? And it's a broad spectrum. Lately it's been about a very fat girl, who talks about herself in the third person and has some wannabee boyfriend wheeling her around after she'd fallen over while trying to skate. REALLY??

Zoony, there are magazines that are full of such tat.  TOWIE, Made in Chelsea, Celeb Big Brother etc. Katie Price AKA Jordan, famous for her ever increasing, but more recently decreasing, chest size etc.  I blame the Sun!

My guilty reality tv pleasure is Judge Judy. She makes Maggie Thatcher look like a wimp.
