Before or after..
« on: Jan 22, 2019, 06:45:38 PM »

   the event.!
Do I grit my path before the heavy frost/ snow ,or after it has settled. ?     My daughter Marnie tells me to do it before. And driving on the motor way yesterday I notice there were lanes closed ahead because of gritting in progress.. Yet the sun was shining and there wasn’t a snow flake in sight..

If the snow is heavy Scrumpy you'll have to shift a bit first and then spread the grit.
I'm looking forward to summer, the rain gets warmer.

The stuff they use on the roads is actually rock salt which lowers the freezing temp of water. As it gets crushed and spread by motors it gets more effective. Not sure how that works on a driveway..

I don't bother, it just gets trodden into the house.  I just hibernate!  :(
I saw an ad for burial plots.  I thought to myself, "this is the last thing I need".

I do that when I can.   Otherwise I just make a path with salt to the bin, put salt on the front path and right outside the gate.   It gives me a chance to get my feet to be a bit braver.   I can walk ok on snow or really lumpy ice that others have shovelled into the gutters [??is gutters the right word??].   Anything more than that and it is compulsory hibernation.   At what age does fear of ice set in I wonder.

I think we are hibernating today.  All our neighbours are out pouring hot water onto their cars (makes my husband shudder).  Retirement is good.

I have steps leading down to my front door.. They can be a bit tricky.
I'm a bloody pain when it comes to heavy frost and snow.. I walk along as if the ground is electrocuted..  I don't know when that first started..
