Who stole my unread posts link?
« on: Feb 01, 2019, 11:39:41 AM »
Anybody else noted with regret that a forum change has removed the "show all unread posts" link and incidentally your forum avatar from the site banner?

For those like me who use the feature just about all the time it still works and it's only the link that has gone. As I put it in my bookmarks as my default way into the site I still have the link. If you use it I'd suggest you bookmark it....

I've still got Show Unread Posts Forty, it's under my avatar and I use this all the time.

I've just checked with a different browser and it isn't shown with that either. I'm guessing that you never log out.

I have a link in the blue bar at the top of the home page. And another at the bottom to see recent posts. I shall try logging out and then in again, and let you know if it maketh any difference.

Strange. I don't see it on my tablet using Android Chrome.
Nor this desktop using Opera (screenshot att.) Also tried IE and Edge and they are the same.

SFAIK I've changed no settings.

No I still don't see it. I thought I'd found something but I think that was just the forum coders being lazy.

There is something strange in the page source. The section of code where my avatar and the unread posts links should appear is set to non display ???

      <div id="upper_section" class="middletext" style="display: none;">         <div class="user">            <p class="avatar"><img src="http://pensionersforum.co.uk/upavatars/avatar_3367_1549043665.png" alt="" class="avatar" /></p>            <ul class="reset">               <li class="greeting">Hello <span>fortyone</span></li>               <li><a href="http://www.pensionersforum.co.uk/index.php?action=unread">Show unread posts since last visit.</a></li>               <li><a href="http://www.pensionersforum.co.uk/index.php?action=unreadreplies">Show new replies to your posts.</a></li>               <li>Feb 01, 2019, 05:54:31 PM</li>            </ul>         <>

Yes & if you click on this part of the code it takes you to the unread posts.

<li> <a href[/size]="http://www.pensionersforum.co.uk/index.php?action=unread">Show unread posts since last visit. </a> </li>

Yes it's the link I have in my favourites and which I posted above. The mystery is why for me it is all in a non-display section on every browser and device I use meaning it is in some way associated with the user id but I see nothing in my forum settings to account for it.

Hells bells I can see a working link now where Ashy said - in the blue bar and not where it always was before. My avatar still doesn't show on the home page though. All very strange
