Next door neighbour coming round for dinner this evening - venison casserole, potato croquettes, mixed veg, cheese and bickies
Mike (plus the fruit of the grape, of course!)
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me.

Scrumpy.
I call it lots of things.... Usually, while I'm having to bale it out, during very wet weather.....  ;)

Is it not tanked or does the water run into the garage & down into the pit?

Went to see "Jesus Christ Superstar" at the Tivoli theatre in Aberdeen yesterday.  Absolutely fantastic production.  It was given a modern setting with Jesus in slacks and T shirt, while Judas wore a leather jacket. Caiaphas and the other officials wore military style uniforms while King Herod appeared as a rather camp businessman surrounded by scantily clad dancing girls.   Great singing and dancing  with live music from a 10 piece band.   Very well worth seeing.

Back to reality today.  Phoned daughter in Sheffield.  She had no trouble from flooding and was able to get to work without holdups.  Tidied up leaves in garden and chopped some logs.  Weather looks OK, so hopefully get out for walk this afternoon.
You'll have had your tea.

Has anyone heard if GrannyMac is okay with the flooding?

Thanks UP, I'm fine. Our bit of Sheffield hasn't been too bad, and we live up a hill. Rotherham and Doncaster have been really badly afffected. The Fire service are still doing a wonderful job!

I went for a drive and a walk around the Elan Valley, it was really scenic, autumn colours, sunshine and not too cold, there is a circular route around the lakes from Rhayader, at one point it's 1600 feet above sea level, it was only 4 degrees up there (along with a dusting of snow) most of the time it was 8 and 9, on the way back I stopped off at a pub I've never been to before, the only problem was they were serving a Sunday carvery and I came home to 2 ham and boiled egg sandwiches (not quite the same)  ;D

Just watching it on the News.  So glad to hear it's not in your area, GM.  It looks devastating for those who are now being evacuated.

When I dug out for the  foundations.
The bottom of the pit excavation, was some 3 feet down into the water table clay.

I made a double thickness membrane, of 12' wide h/d builder's polythene. All that was available to me, almost 50yrs ago.....

The water seeps in occasionally, during very wet weather.
 Sometimes, 3 times a year.
Sometimes, not at all, for 3 years.....
