Emptying the living room, we get the new carpet tomorrow and I'm just having a break from shifting the furniture into other rooms......I'm fair jiggered.

Lino isn't a cheap option these days.  You can buy a good carpet for a lot less.

After coming back from shopping, I found that the dishwasher had stopped working.  The error suggested that the drain hose was blocked.  Not that simple - I ended up having to take the covers off and look for the blockage.  I took the drain pump out, had a look and found a small chicken bone jamming it.  Not sure how it got past the filters, but that appears to have been the problem.

The dishwasher is about 10 years old and this was the first problem we had with it.

I only went to my cooking cupboard to get out some dried fruit.. I spent time checking and throwing out everything that was out of date.. My cupboard is nearly empty.. and the dried fruit has hit the wheelie bin..
Very mild here..
Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

Still a bit below freezing here. Looking to repair the ravages of Christmas/New Year to my weight, I had intended to return to my low calorie diet this week for a while to shed a few pounds, but I'm damned if I am going to subsist on small salads in this weather - I'll just continue to avoid looking in the mirror for a bit longer!

MR have you tried the "healthier option" (lower calorie) ready meals? some of them are quite nice, Tesco do a mushroom risotto, or a chicken bean and pea risotto, along with cottage pie, spag bol etc, all of which (in my opinion) are really nice, and you can always add some extra veg, rice or pasta if you have enough calories left in the "pot"  ;D  and I know what you mean about salads in this weather.
Well I'm nipping into the pub followed by a quick trip around Tesco, one of the things I'll be buying (at 3 for £6) are the meals as mentioned above

Now you mention it - I haven't thought to look for them - will do so - I have a Tesco delivery about once a week on average, which usually includes a ready meal or three, but hadn't thought to look for low calorie
Many thanks

Just faffing about at home today as my car is away to the garage, seems I'm losing brake fluid. :(

Well if it's losing brake fluid then the garage if definitely the best place for it, brakes are No1 on the "important" list.

The old saying - 'lose petrol and you stop. Lose brake fluid and you can't'

Hoping the weather will moderate. Last night’s gales haven’t subsided nearly as much as they were supposed to, and continuous high winds often bring our power lines down. Didn’t happen last year but...........

Again just messing about at home, the weather's fault this time. The wind is terrible with heavy rain hammering through it. The ocean is fair rocking n rolling as well, huge waves crashing up the cliff face and over the sea walls.
