2 million pensiomers live in poverty.
« on: Mar 04, 2019, 05:03:49 PM »
It says a lot are not calming their hard earned benefits,
Problem is I have tried to claim them and they will not let me have any.

Because yours is not a legal claim on your insurance Brian.  I think it's called fraud.
The vote for Brexit was a vote to take back what we hadn't lost in order to lose what we actually have.

If you think that is a clever remark Brian , you are sadly mistaken..

I get pig sick of people saying benefits are not high enough.
They don't think of the people who are paying tax for them to get those benefits.

Please Scrumpy that is hardly a charitable reply. You should have some pity for the hard of thinking.

This is a bit of a paradox.  I've just been reading another thread which quotes pensioner average incomes in excess of 18 grand a year?  Now I am led to believe 2 million of us are on the breadline; which is correct?

It's possible both are. Just as earnings vary vastly so do post retirement income. This will all be levelled out by the soon to come Marxist government. We'll almost all be boracic.

If that happens over time nobody will pay  in for a pension so there will be no money to pay out.

I'm with Brian on this one. It is probably true that a lot of pensioners do not claim benefits that they are entitled to, and those who have contributed the most get nothing in return.

Perhaps we should have a higher state pension and cut back on benefits.  Nobody would be worse off, but those who have provided for themselves and do not qualify for benefits would get a bit more back.
You'll have had your tea.

I agree with you Traveller..
I get so angry that many people do not contribute and rely upon those that do..

But Brian puts this out so many times.. He gloats about the money/pensions
he receives.. He would see the elderly left to starve..
Something not quite right there...

I think we have all noticed; it seems to upset you so much.  However it must be so much worse for the 2 million pensioners living in poverty the vast majority of whom, when they were earning enough to do so, will have paid their taxes.  Obviously they should be shown no humanity because they deliberately lived their lives on low incomes just to be perverse but it does seem that yours is a first world problem Brian.

That would be nice, we would be rich because  benefits cover rent allowance and council tax, dental work, opticians - I can't see pensions ever rising that much.
