Thanks for the complement, I sometimes think that I am so far to the left that I have fallen off the scale !!

fortyone, Whenever I post facts, I always post the source out of courtesy.

If you can be bothered, you could do your own research into the aged using food banks....

You are beginning to look like Tory if my interpretation of how this specific thread is heading is correct.

I think the following are facts.

The biggest study yet undertaken into food bank use in the UK has been published, painting a bleak picture of modern life for those who need the service. The research, carried out at Oxford University, found many food bank users experiencing profound poverty and destitution, and struggling to buy food and pay bills.

Two-thirds of those who used food banks were aged 24-39, with only a tiny proportion of users classified as pensioners, suggesting that pensioners – whose incomes have been protected in recent years – are at lower risk of food insecurity.

This is a pensioners site, so I would have thought my original posting would have struck a cord considering old age poverty is rife in this country.

I dont know how anybody of any age can ignore our oldest citizens the way we do in Britain,?, have we all become dehumanised, ?, I think we have ..

Some people have simply never cared until something affected them personally, sadly Michaelt.
The vote for Brexit was a vote to take back what we hadn't lost in order to lose what we actually have.

Please stop your rant and put some sensible figures down so we can discuss in a rational way. How much should a couple receive in pension after their rent and council tax has been paid i.e. how much does a retired couple need to enjoy an acceptable standard of living ??

Bobcat, By calling my posting a rant, then you must be a very ignorant person.  I will no longer respond to any of your postings, not that I feel I would want to.

What is going on on this site - why does no one answer a straight question with a sensible straight answer ??

Hi fortyone, how do feel about what you posted about asking Bobcat how he felt about posting what he'd posted?

If you want to know how I feel about asking how you feel about what you posted about asking Bobcat how he felt about posting what he'd posted, then feel free to ask me.

I just can't get my mind around the figurers !! no pensioner should be living in poverty. The minimum amount a retired couple have to live on is almost £250 per week (their rent and council tax is paid). So that's £250 for food, heating, clothes etc. not a vast amount but enough for an acceptable standard of living, why cant 300,000 pensioners manage on this ?? its just beyond me !!!!

Do a bit of research on the organisation that produced the report Michaelt is quoting. Better still just stop bothering to reply and forget about it.
