That says more about Mexico, and points south of there than it does about the USA.

It does say more about Mexico, but it also emphasises mick607's point that Mexicans see the USA as good country into which to move.

And it is for many. The South Western states are more latino than white in many places as the result of mostly-illegal migration over the years. The Agro-economy of several states would collapse without Chicano labour in fact up until recently a relatively blind eye was turned to the mass influx at planting and harvesting times. Such workers would return home having earned enough for themselves and their families a relatively comfortable winter. No idea how it works today..

I went to NY a few years ago & had the best holiday ever. The people I met were the most friendly helpful people I have ever met in my life. OK the US has problems but which country doesn't.US can't be that bad cos the Mexicans would love to move there.
I too found New Yorkers to be the nicest people !  I'd heard they were rude, unfriendly etc etc but I found them to be the opposite.

Labour party talk a load of bull, when they were in power food banks were not allowed. Permission for them was given by the Conservative party. Now they are saying conservative party created poverty because of food banks.

Didn't realise that. As I have said many times, the statistics for numbers in poverty are rubbish - I am not denying that some poverty exists - which is a disgrace for a country as rich as ours unless the poverty is self inflicted - but defining ti as a %age of average income is stupid beyond belief, as it means if average income rises, the number in poverty increases, if average income falls the number in poverty FALLS! How bloody stupid is that?

Labour party have lifted the poverty line. People at the bottom of the income bracket will be poor so food banks stops them starving. The numbers classed as being in poverty would decreased if they gave up smoking. ??? ??? ???

The word poverty being used to gain power by the Labour party against the Conservatives. I could be in poverty if I smoked, gambled and lived beyond my means. Some may think I am rich because I am a member of a gym and a golf club. £20 a week covers it, the price of 50 fags. £1 an hour of enjoyable company and exercise.  If we compared our living standards to many other countries, there would very few classed as being in poverty.
