Wasted Money By Westminster.
« on: Mar 27, 2019, 03:16:28 PM »
What a lot of wasted money, why have all these tellers on God knows what salaries, just to tell Bercow how many votes there are for & against.

Haven't they heard of electronic voting?

Strip away all the division pomp & ceremony & just do the Godammned job!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Spooky, just I hit 'post', some MP is quoted as saying exactly the same.

Because with the current system of trooping through the lobbies, the Whips can keep their beady eyes on everybody, not a power they would wish to lose

They'd be able to look at their tablets to see who's voted for what.

I hadn't realised that the tellers were employees. I thought they were MPs who may as well do a bit of counting as stand around scratching their balls.

I think there are four political tellers plus officials who record all the names at a division and help the MPs to count.

Depends on the system installed, surely - and the cannon fodder would be daft to swap one Big Brother set-up for another. But then...................

No!!! Make them walk round the chamber, it's the only exercise they get, except a few of them flap their jaws from time to time.

Diasi, tellers are MPs - they don't get anything extra.  If you had been listening to the debate this afternoon they are looking at modernising the voting system.
The vote for Brexit was a vote to take back what we hadn't lost in order to lose what we actually have.

The biggest waste of money in both Houses are the salaries, perks, expenses and dishonesty. Salaries should be suspended until Brexit actually happens.

Zoony, you surprise me.  As in all walks of life there will be a small percentage of dishonest people.  Not all MPs are by any means.
