This appears silly to me.

We had an Economics teacher at school and his ability to spell was not the best.
He did know his subject but we picked up a spelling error most days.
Most of the students got an A or a B at A level.

That say's a lot about the standard of exam requirements then if the teacher can't spell properly.Mind you the teacher would have a gold plated final salary pension to look forward too.

It wasn't an English exam; what is the problem?  It is easy to teach for the past - which is the standard you are judging this by - far more difficult to teach for the future.  Already we see dyslexics making faster strides because of computers and oh look - we have brains (often misspelt in my case) and intelligence too ::) Would you put an Einstein or a Picasso at the bottom of the class because they had difficulty spelling?

Where they have put the software in to aid someone with this challenge many companies have spread it throughout the employees as it simply makes them more efficient.  Complaining about spelling is rapidly looking as antediluvian as complaining young people don't know how to plough a field with horses.  It is a skill that no longer needs to be held in the high esteem older people felt it had for them.

As UP says .If it’s not an English exam does it matter.!
I’m not very good at spelling but it never stop me achieving goals in life that I thought impossible.

Seen on a toilet wall many years ago
'F...' all grils
response
'What have you got against us grils?'
Spelling does matter!

I have this theory....
spelling is really important... if you can spell
personally i'm crop at spelling.. ;D
so it matters not to me
I would rather read a good tale, miss-spelt
than a crap one with 10/10 for spelling
but then I was a miner, but never a minor... smiley

He was obviously doing his job well.. Students getting good marks..
