Talking to your pet is not a sign of madness.

Andy is a Scottish dog and we always talk to him about looking after money. When I put petrol in the car he always looks at the pump presumably to see how much money is being spent. He also takes an interest in he bill when we go to a café.
Peter is more interested in the different foods and I don't think he is really interested in the money side.

I find the cats can hold more intelligent conversation than 50% of humans!

People occasionally ask me to look after a cat as a last resort. I think they can always smell dog on me even though I shower every day.
When I go round to feed the cat he runs up on to the top of the roof but when I go round the next time the food is gone. I never know if the correct cat has eat it.
I know when Andy and Peter have eat their food.

I find myself when alone in the bedroom, talking to any one of my wife's doll collection particularly one which is really well featured and quite beautiful.  I feel her eyes follow me around the room!  Whereas my younger son despises the lot of them and says it is like living with the souls of the dead which is quite macabre.  We also have one of these Alexa gadgets which plays most music on request and it too, I find, makes primitive conversation.

This morning I watched a cat eating a dead pigeon that had been killed by some sort of hawk, he left the beak, the feathers and the feet.

Although our cats kill the occasional rat they never eat any part of it as if they know they are diseased! A friend's dog killed a rat, contacted jaundice and died. Cats are more intelligent than dogs!

I don't have any pets but when I talk to myself I answer...Seems rude not to.
It certainly does.

The time to worry is when you argue with yourself - and lose!

Some cats can be very vocal especially when they want YOU do do something for them. They may not understand the words when you talk to them but I believe they can judge from your tone whether to trust you or not.

I was doing a photo shoot this morning and a large black one who often passes through my garden, came and sat down in front of me. He watched me for a few minutes then began to miow. I have a rule against feeding strange cats (I dont want to encourage them) but I did put some water out for him and he drank it. He must have been thirsty. Then he did the bit of rubbing himself against my legs.

I wonder how many people he persuades to feed him with these tricks.
Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the blind obedience of fools.
