We don’t get any Thrushes in the garden anymore . They seemed to have disappeared..

The Thrush has disappeared from my area, 10 yrs ago when I first came the variety of birds visiting were many, - All gone now only Sparrow and Blackbird visit. Perhaps human habitation has increased?

Only one of many factors I think, Firenze. Our meadowlands and hayfields are being farmed for mono-cultural, rotational growing using neonicotinoid pesticides which kill the pollinating insects such as our fabulous bees and butterflies, thus poisoning the insectivorous birds which feed on them. Old hedgerows are being/have been grubbed up meaning a vital habitat for nesting birds and small creatures is lost..Etc., etc.
It's true to say that some species of bird are ebbing, others flowing. I think it's always been that way for one reason or another, it's just that we count these things nowadays.

I live in an Agricultural area in an ancient small Market Town.  In the 12 years of my habitation the bird population has disappeared in the flocks that were here. So sad!

How sweet!!

We - I suppose I should get used to saying 'I' - live with three miles of farmland on three sides of the house. Apart from the normal rotation of crops nothing significant has changed since we came in 2003, but the bird population has certainly decreased - couldn't put a number on it, but enough to notice. Plenty if sparrows and too many crows and pigeons, but the number of bluetits, great tits, and coal tits have decreased markedly in the last two year and chaffinches, Bullfinches, and wagtails are far less - the former two now a rarity. Still see jackdaws and occasionally a Greater Spotted Woodpecker. A buzzard or two from time to time. House martins are back, still waiting for the swallows and swifts to reappear.

No Zoony . All taken in the open in our beautiful local park. The baby thrush was taken with my 600mm lens and was quite close and very inquisitive.
