As a child, measles, mumps and rubella were 'rites of passage' and although there can be serious complications, I personally don't recall anyone having had any lasting effects. I had all 3 while at primary school and I remember girls having 'rubella parties' to avoid catching it after puberty.

As for eye problems, I've had Posterior vitreous detachment (PVDs) in both eyes.  Although one caused a small bleed, there was no sign of retinal detachment.  My optometrist  said that it was very common as you age (75% of over 65's)  and in most cases caused no problems.  I still get little 'floaters' which are annoying under certain light conditions.

Floaters can be very annoying.

Especially for those of us with water meters.

When my late wife had ARMD the specialist was positive
about taking lutein which is good for the
eye's macula.
So we  took Ocuvite every day ever since.
Both my eyes at 86 are still OK.
