Well the opening post did involve South Africa so Zimbabwe isn't wandering too far off topic.  ;D

The DWP can interview you wherever they want to interview you but quite often they do it at a claimant's home because it's less stressful for the claimant to be in their home surroundings.

There's also legislation in place that requires Government Departments & even private landlords to check what's called the Right to Reside.

The DWP officer will not be trying to trick you, he / she will just be making sure that you get what you're entitled to get.

P.S. Welcome to the forum, I've worked with quite a few blokes who baled out of South Africa, often at a minute's notice & leaving everything behind.

Still it's far better than the old colonial days.

Just look at what a roaring success Zimbabwe is now it's independent.
