Good for  Cee Gee...
It really doesn't matter how good you play.. It's the enjoyment of playing..

I would love to play the piano well.. But alas I can't.. So I just play it because I enjoy it..
Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

CG  I have aways wanted to play the piano, my Son gave me his old keyboard, so at my advanced years I am teaching myself to play, I am using earphones at the moment so as not to drive Ron mad with my wrong notes, but am really enjoying it and think I am improving. So enjoy your guitar CG will look forward to shared experiences

I always admire any one trying some thing new Yellow Bird. Keep it up, and enjoy it, never mind a few bad notes. Like me with golf, its a good game if I don't lose a ball ;D ;D ;D

My OH has an electric piano, like YB he practises with headphones!  In his day he's played trumpet, harmonica, and basic rhythm guitar.

I tried to learn to play the guitar about 50 years ago. I was hopeless, but reading this thread makes me realise that for the life of me I cannot remember what happened to the guitar.
I suppose I must have given it away.
Good Lord I think (or is it a false memory?) now I have put my mind to it, that I gave it to one of my staff who mentioned that her son had been pestering her for one. How strange

Thank you for the days, the days you gave me.

Trapping my left hand index finger (fretting finger} set me back for a couple of days :'( ...so I cheered myself up by buying myself a beautiful Yamaha 12 string guitar. Inspired by my new beauty I worked through the pain today and practiced  and was happy with my progress :)

Good for you C-G. Now de-tune your bass E to a D and play a normal D chord...

Thank you Zoony :) I am a little bit confused though would you not have to alter the high E to change the D chord being as the D chord is played on 4 strings?

Thanks crabbyob. I do use you tube tutorials, and play them through the TV. Its like having a one to one lesson using rewind to recap. :)

Nope. And it's not a 4 string chord. If you do as I suggest and play your normal D you'll find you can  play all 6 strings making a deep, rich sound. Of course, the G chord will be played slightly differently but it's such a nice sound. Paul Simon used it quite a lot.

CG..This in one of mine written with that string change. You'll hear it's depth as the verse starts after the intro..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEVMYbGOKD8&feature=em-upload_owner
