RIP Max
« on: Aug 18, 2019, 06:28:54 PM »
We had to have our 12 year old lab Max put down this afternoon. He has been my best friend since he was a puppy and the whole family are very, very sad at the moment. This picture was taken when he was two....

Sorry to hear that. Max certainly has the look of an intelligent dog.

A sad day indeed. You know it's the ring thing but still feel a degree of guilt.

A friend's dog was running along, stopped and dropped down dead at 15. A shock but somehow easier!

Really feel sorry for you losing one of the family which Max surely was. When I lost my Lab many years ago I had a good cry, I was really heart broken. Still remember the date 9-9-99 Lucy was her name she died of mouth cancer. She had the very best in cancer treatment which cost us a few hundred pounds but she was worth every penny.

That's sad.  We all do become very fond of our pets don't we?  Years later, we still miss our little rescue moggy who we had for over 15 years.

I suppose time does blunt pain - now that this thread has made me think about it,I don't grieve over any of my cats, the last one of whom I had to have put to sleep a bit over 30 years ago. On the other hand, Fleur, our Cavalier King Charles, died in my arms at the vet's in February and I miss her terribly.

Oh I still grieve over all our cats and dogs whom we've rescued over the years.  I'm a total sucker, take me to a rescue centre and I'll come out with one and love them forever xx
