But he keeps quiet about the fact that it was his lot that craftily off  loaded government responsibility for funding  free licences  for the elderly onto the BBC I believe in 2015.

I doubt he remembers that as he doesn't do detail! He already has spent more than he has even with a Brexit Bonus!

Johned, Its the crafty implication that the TV licence is purely  to fund the BBC, that irritates me, while its true that the entire money collected goes the BBC, the fact remains that the TV licence is not a fee for using BBC services, its  a government imposed TAX, which they  are now getting the BBC to collect,  for using any equipment capable of receiving a radio or TV transmission irrespective of the channels  so you would be still breaking the law even if you never used any BBC services.

Raven, The crafty git is not restoring it, he is just again passing the buck and  putting the onus on the BBC, for a despicable tacit  by the government.

I maintain that if the government cannot fund a state broadcaster from the general taxation they should manage without one. It is absurd to tax TV receivers.

The licence fee also pays for Channel 4. However, it matters not to me O stopped paying it many years ago. It is illegal to finance crime. I am a law abiding citizen..

One or two will know me & the wife moved in to an independant living flat.Great stuff & a nice touch is a TV licence for 7.50 pa. Called an ARC licence or something like that. Premises designed specifically for the over 60s or older people with disabilities. Wouldn't pay 154 pa odd but my budget will stretch to 7.50  !
