Hi all, new member - thanks for having me!
My favourite perfume was Nina Ricci L'air du Temps, I wore it for nearly 40 yrs until recently, but now suddenly it smells horrible. Don't know why. It's not the perfume, my nose has changed.
The first perfume I wore was when was 12 and nicked my big sister's In Love, by Hartnell, boy did I fell grown up! Later I adored Yardley's Chique. I loved Yardley's Sea Jade, but can only remember buying the talc. Then came Goya's Omen - I can still see the bottle - ridged blue with a red top ... reminded me of the smell of tea, but I still gaily doused myself in it until a friend's father remarked one day that he could smell me before he saw me.
Jacqueline mentioned the Avon perfumes, my favourites were Brocade and Topaz. And for the men, Brut or Old Spice was hard to beat. As a teen we bought small bottles of Brut to wear ourselves at school,we thought we were so 'with it'. 50p they were then, or ten shillings.
At school we bought Imperial Leather soap and talc in a gift pack for friends at Christmas - either that or Avon soap-on-a-rope.
Anyone remember the Bronnley lemon soaps which were bedded in straw in a long wooden box?
