Deadwood? Never heard of it - what was it about? On the other hand - had a few such work for me over the years - they didn't last
Mike

It's a Western tv series about the early years of the town of Deadwood which I enjoyed tremendously. It stars Ian Mcshane and Timothy Oliphant and, in fairness to Crabby, it's not for the faint-hearted language-wise.

That's three more names to add to my collection of those I've never heard.

Bruce Chatwin was a wandering writer of lovely and interesting books. Probably best-know for Songlines which deals with Aboriginal beliefs and practices. The songlines of the title are the oral maps, preserved within tribes and used to navigate distances and routes from local to continental. Fascinating read.

I was watching 'The Capture', only at episode 2, and became increasingly conscious of and irritated by the soundtrack. It's an interesting drama and I like the mystery involved but that continuously mounting tension in the background music is unnecessary, loud and bloody intrusive. Other than that and the heroine being ludicrous, I'm quite enjoying it. >:( ;D

Loved 'The Capture'.  We watched 'A Confession', based on the real story of Steve Fulcher, a Wiltshire DS, who was investigating the disappearance of a young woman.  Martin Freeman and Joe Absolom were very convincing. Worth a watch.

I agree zoony re some background music. OTT.

Scrumpy, I watch 'The Apprentice' for the sheer comedy value. 😃

Yes, we also enjoyed The Capture.  I often knit (for dementia patients in our local hospital) and I found myself knitting very fast to help the heroine out of a tricky moment!

Thanks, Zoony - I've tracked down a few clips on YouTube - McShane looks a very convincing Western baddy! When was it on - and what? Sky (which I don't have)?

It's been around for some years now..It was written with a fair amount of historical accuracy re; the characters around at that time and the dialogue is very individual..No idea who originated it but it wasn't Sky..

This might help you, but it looks like you have to subscribe to see all the episodes.

I've become slightly obsessed with the spectacles that actors wear as their characters. The vast majority are obviously clear glass/plastic lenses. Which, for some reason, irritates me irritatingly..If I see a genuine pair of lenses, one can easily tell by the view of the curve of the cheek through them, I relax and enjoy the actor....Erm..Think I'll say goodnight now..

Will it have a good twist to it?
