You mean Andy says get two. Peter just grins and wags his tail.

Andy thinks a dog is a good investment. If you live longer you are drawing your pension for longer.

This morning I saw a neighbour talking to her cat. It was obvious that she thought her cat understood her..... I came to my house , I told the dogs... We all laughed a lot.
Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

I don't know about living longer, but they certainly make you feel better and lift your mood.

My previous cairn was supposed to last to 14 or 15. He died on his 17th birthday. Sadly a lady died the same day and her dog wanted a home so he came later that day.
He had been named Andy the same name as my previous dog.
I worried that he might pine away but I think he could tell we were upset so he had to console us and live.
He is a Scottish breed born on St David's day.

Getting a dog is a good investment? It may well give the owner a few more years but at what cost?

I have always had Labs. It was impossible to furnish the house with anything part decent. Carpets, chair legs, cushions all ended up being replaced early. Stair carpet for example. I wanted a 100% wool loop carpet  - it lasted 6 months with the dog pulling the wool loops out with it's claws.
Then the 'mistakes' try cleaning that up off a cream wool carpet!
Since our last dog died I have replaced all of the furniture, carpets, beds & bedding plus two internal doors.
It's like a piece of heaven now with no worries.

My house is far from perfect. Grandchildren do bits of damage. Yellow patches happen on the lawn as well.

My grandchildren are extremely well behaved - they have to be. And I don't miss those yellow patches on the lawn either - it has taken me 3 years to get my lawns looking like a bowling green and no dog is going to ruin all of my hard work

Our dogs tend to use the paddock we have out back for the wife's horses. Front lawns either side of the drive are excellent!
