That is so very true Mike, I think some people forget how loud fireworks used to be or could be, regarding the jumping jacks, some kids used to think it was funny to throw them at other kids and laugh watching them jump out of the way.
Having been both a perpetrator and a recipient, I remember them well - although I only threw one once - got into parental bad books! Penny rockets were quite good - stand in empty milk bottle, light blue touch paper and watch the soar over several neighbours gardens

Guilty as charged, ma'am - but I was only 9 or so - soon learned better!

We used to have a large bonfire in the garden.. Rockets.. Bangers.. Sparklers and Catherine Wheels..
Four families would put their firework contributions together to make it a grand do..
The following morning we kids would look around for EMPTY fireworks containers and marvel as to how far they had travelled..

I found the remains of a Rocket in my garden last year and it was huge.. The wooden tail looked like a fence post.!!
Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

Last night it sounded like a war zone here. Not sure when fireworks became ordnance or ordnance fireworks but I half-expected to see bombed out ruins this morning..

My nephew came round last night and when he got home there was no sign of the cat. He looked under all the beds and it was no where to be seen. Eventually he found it sitting on the window ledge behind the curtains WATCHING the fireworks outside.
