Rip - Gary Rhodes

The TV chef Gary Rhodes has died at the young age of 59. What I liked about him was that he promoted British food. I cannot recall when he was last on TV (ignoring repeats).


RIP Gary.

I think that is so very sad..
 He was one of the first (younger) chefs to appear on TV.. Noted for his spikey hair.. We watched him many a time..

He always reminded me of Nigel Kennedy. I think i once saw one of them on a chat show and thought it was the other guy.

It seems he died following a fall but no other details were given. I remember Jim Rodford of the Zombies died a few years ago following a fall. You seem to shrug them off under 50 but do damage over.

Veronica and I used to love those programmes, not that they ever influenced our own cooking - they stood on their own merits as entertainment

Apologies for this. It appears that Jamie Oliver tweeted this and it was picked up by a few newspapers which published it online. Mr Oliver has since deleted his tweet. There is some speculation this morning but as I have seen two different stories I am not repeating them. I trust we see Mr Oliver offering an apology!
