Yes(shamed face). After I got to page 13 at age 18,I went out to the A38 and tried to put my head under a lorries front wheel. I think - on sentencing - Saddam chose the noose rather than having to go thru this classic.

Personally I can't take Ulysses, but many people can't take Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy which I have read
about once a year since I was 13 (that's about 44 times).

So, as my Granny said, "Tastes differ said the old woman as she kissed the coo."   :)

AND don't insult tripe: having tripe soup for lunch today: lovely.

read Ulysses about 50 years ago. Given how poor my memory is now, can't remember a damn thing about it other than having been unimpressed - ditto Lady Chatterley's Lover which I seem to remember having dismissed as poor quality porn pretending to be art

It certainly was low quality porn, not a single photo in the whole book.

Total waste of my money. ;D

Somewhat sadly ironic that when he was studying Medicine at Cambridge he was also a founding member of the Alzheimer's Society.

Should have watched the film Diasi, the other one, not the one with Sean Bean
