Black Fribay.
« on: Dec 02, 2019, 10:09:09 PM »
Black Fribay. My wife fell in the garden by the front gate and has Brocken her right hip.
And is in the Hospital, the thought she was coming out today but the doctor said she must have two bottles of blood and could possibly come out tomorrow.

So sorry for your wife Martin, my husband did similar thing, triped up one step in the garden and landed up with a hip replacement. Zoonys right, physio exercises are important.  Chris my husband is fine now, hope that reassures you and your wife.  All the best.

Martin - how awful for her. I do hope she makes a full and speedy recovery - a broken hip for we oldies can be very worrying

Martin, our neighbour who is in his eighties, fell and broke his hip.  He had an operation next day and was home within a few days.  He lives alone but managed quite well.

He made a very quick recovery and seems to be fine now.

Try not to worry too much Martin.. I am sure your wife will recover well from her hip operation..

It seems that many on here have witnessed this problem..  Listen to hospital advise and carry it through..
I wish you both well and enjoy the time when you are both together again..
Everything will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, its not the end.

I feel so sorry for your wife Martin and can emphathise with you both in your distress.  Eight months ago my wife had to visit Peterborough hospital for an ENT appointment.  Thankfully this went well and the final words of the specialist as we were leaving were "you don't look too bad for your age!" which proved to be ironic considering what was to happen.  Reaching the car park I advised her to wait near the car as I reversed out of the parking bay as it was quite constricted.  Whilst so doing, she leant against a barrier which promptly gave way!  The result was a night in A&E followed by a week in hospital and pain ensuing having sustained a break in the pelvis.  She has had two further falls in the house since and is still suffering considerable pain.
