Oh, poor little doggie! When we were children there was a small dog - bigger than the dachie, but can't remember the breed - with a similar 'undercarriage'. Used to go out with his owner who would ride an old upright 'vicar's special' bicycle, puffing on his pipe, whilst doggie trotted along on the pavement happy as Larry (come to think of it - who was Larry?)

She is called Belle and sustained a back injury that has taken the use of her back legs. She is a very happy soul and runs about chasing her ball.

It shows how well animals cope with a disability & just get on with life.

What a beautiful dog is Belle.

Tears came to my eyes seeing the picture but I do not think Belle wants sympathy. Audrine

He was a boxer called Larry Foley in the 1890s, before boxing was fully legalised. He won the biggest prize of about $150,000 dollars and a newspaper article in New Zealand had the headline “Happy As Larry” and the phrase stuck.

P.S. A pugilist, not a boxer dog. ;D

A chap I see quite often in the park has two Dachshunds, one about 5 years old, the other about 14. The older one is blind, but he brings them both to the park, lets the young one run around to her heart's content, carries the old lady a few yards into the park proper and lets her sniff around for a while then returns her to the car. Apparently she gets around indoors without any problems and knows exactly when it is meal times!

I think the little Dachshunds face says it all. As long as they can have us alongside in their days, they seem quite prepared to countenance anything.
