Something that always intrigues me about films, not just Christmas ones. When it comes to gunplay, why are the baddies such awful shots? Saw a brilliant/terrible example 20 minutes ago. I exercise in the mornings and normally have some music from YouTube on - anything from Handel to Holly according to mood. Switched on the TV and it was tuned to a movie channel showing a western. Before I could press the button for YouTube the scene in front of me was so riveting that I watched it for about three minutes. The hero, all unsuspecting, walks towards a cabin, unaware that about 8 baddies are inside, waiting to shoot him. Not just that, but there are more baddies in flanking positions in barns, behind bales of hay, etc, more than a dozen all told. Hero gets to within 50 yards of the cabin and they all open fire on him - every shot misses, giving him time to dodge behind a conveniently placed wagon and start to return fire, knocking over a baddy with just about every shot whilst they continue to miss, even though he is standing behind the wagon with his legs totally exposed below its bed!
I was a reasonable shot in my rifle club days - at 50 yards, with either rifle or pistol, I could hit a man sized target every time - in fact at 50 yards with the rifle I could put every shot into a target the size of a one pound coin. Still, it gave me a laugh to start the day!
