Man wants smoking allowed in pubs.
« on: Jan 03, 2020, 09:22:05 PM »
He is saying the smoking  an has killed the pub trade.
I dont agree. I am in a pub now and it seems reasonably busy for January. Smoking has declined in general and i am sure there would be less customers if smoking was re introduced.

A while ago what had once been the Saloon bar was the non-smoking bar and the Public bar became the smoking bar: I see nothing wrong with that.

I certainly enjoy a pipe or a small cigar with a glass of stout.

I know that was the case a few years ago. The problem is the smoke drifted from the smoking to the non smoking area.
The other problem is smoking is not allowed in work places. Pubs are the work places of bar staff.

Well, that ruling can be changed about smoking in work places.

These rulings are not cast in stone.

I think it should be up to the publican. If they can provide an area for smokers then let them.

it would have to be sealed off from the people who don't want smoke.

I agree.

It's all about personal choice whether or not to inhale smoke, but if someone smokes in a room that I'm in, my choice is removed.

P.S. Cue the "well you don't have to be in the room logic".

Or the typical ex smoker.

Smoking shoud not be allowed anywhere where there members of the public. It should be banned in houses where there are children or dogs.

Pensioners, people between 2 and 65 years of age and babies should not be permitted anywhere in public: especially where there are dogs,
armadillos and Diane Abbott.

Let's introduce regulations so people in Britain cannot choose anything.

I agree, in part - pensioners, like us, should be euthanised as they take more out of the government piggy bank than they put in it. Babies should be kept indoors all of the time - they disrupt normal life with their smelly nappies, constant bleating and have a habit of chucking food  at those within a 6' range. Those in the age range of 5 - 21 should also be physically restricted to their home as in general they are disruptive, argumentative and seem to be on a mission to make life difficult for everyone else.
So yes those between 21 to 65 should be let out only to go to work and pay their taxes.

Stick to those rules and crime would plummet.

Well I'm not a typical ex smoker, and as much as I agree that it's a terrible habit, and it makes your clothes, cars, and hair etc stink.
I still like the smell of cigarettes/cigars, and that's after around 15 years, If there were pubs where they catered for smokers, the chances are they wouldn't allow children, then I'd be in with the smokers ;D

Coastal, That's unusual most ex-smokers, myself included can't stand the stink, as I have said  previously, how my late wife, a non smoker, ever put up with me when I smoked, I find hard to understand.
