I agree Mike, but it caused such an uproar last time I think politicians will be wary. We may be stuck with council tax for the forseeable...

Birmingham City Council wastes money.
I have been told the councillors have a booze up 4 times a year at the council tax payers expense and they get provided with food and refreshments at council meetings.
The mayor has a Jaguar with 3 full time drivers. It wastes £30,000,000.00 a year on the homeless.
I have been told there is a a free bar for the councillors and most of them are drunk in council meetings.

Are you sure you live in the Midlands? Could have sworn that you are talking about my council though the drunkenness is a lie - they get drunk after a meeting - hence why the agenda is rushed through.

Goingtoseed, thanks for having a stab at it. I'm single and my annual income is £12k but when I applied for the Warm Home Discount I didn't qualify because I'm not on any benefit.

There are so many anomalies in the benefit / pension system it's ridiculous.

Here's just one example when claiming Warm Home Discount.

"Household income excludes Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Attendance allowance, Disability Living Allowance or PIP". WHY ? it's income and adds up to a large amount.
Out of my INCOME I pay 75% council tax and a service charge for my flat.
.

Yes the system is confusing.
The total of our AA and PIP adds up to £237 a week!! None of this is treated as income.

Does knowing that make you feel better David G?
