"a computer technical site did an in-depth analysis of the Windows 10 v macOS."

So it would seem.

I have seen other 'computer technical sites' slanted the other way.

I have a feeling that all depends on who is smearing margarine on your kneecaps.  ;D

My younger son swears by automatic cars, but I cannot stand the things: he has milk in his coffee, I don't . . . .

Well at the end of every discussion is the fact that around 80% of computer users choose Windows.

In fairness I think the percentage of Windows personal computers is actually higher but in the main people choose based on the computer itself and Apple price their machines quite high.

These days I never buy a new machine. I go for high spec at the time business refurbs. Most come with new SSDs and a Windows 10 Pro licence as business IT departments pull and scrap the original hard drives. You can find decent spec examples at very reasonable prices.

Is there a site that specialises in these?

End of the tale...  I've done a system restore and all is back to normal now.  I've asked Malwarebytes for a refund.....but I won't hold my breath.

My Malwarebytes v 4.04 is the free version, I never upgrade to premium versions.

I've always used free versions too Phil, I don't know what possessed me  ! I think it was probably the 'project fear Mk II' about Windows 7  ::)

There are quite a few. They usually allow you to choose the spec yourself or specify..Try:

I just get mine off eBay. One came with some dodgy software on it to fake activate Windiws which the AV kept bіtching about so I just got a cheap key and used that after junking the dodgy software. If I'd spotted it soon enough I'd have complained to eBay.

..It's something you do when your comumpter is perfect which allows you to return to it, in the same state, at a later date. I'll leave it to somebody else to clarify but meanwhile google 'restore point' and have a look. A very useful thing to have.
